About Me
Hi! I’m Sophie Essex and I’m a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist with over 7 years experience working for the NHS.
I have extensive experience working with preschool and primary aged children in a variety of settings (school, nursery, online and at home). In addition to private work, I maintain my role as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist within the NHS.
I live in West Sheffield and travel to families‘ homes across Sheffield. I can also offer support at my clinic room at my home address, or through online sessions where appropriate.
I am a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) and The Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP). I have a Masters degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
I support children with:
- Speech Sound Difficulties
- Language Difficulties including Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)
- Social Communication Difficulties
- Attention and Listening Difficulties
Services
I work with children from 2-11 years predominantly in Sheffield and the surrounding areas.
My approach is to educate and support parents and childcare professionals to develop children’s communication through fun and motivating activities.
Sessions can take place either in your home, online, or the clinic room at my home address. Initially, a free telephone discussion is recommended to discuss your child’s needs and what can be achieved through assessment and therapy.
